Windows 8 Hover Menus Do Not Work

Windows 10 start menu isn't working and more?

I bought a new laptop hp envy m6 w103-dx and everything was working for a few days when the start menu stopped working. I don't know whether it was an update issue or anything else. I also can't see the Microsoft edge and store icons on the taskbar even though I can see their name pop up when I hover the cursor over them. They are only blank spaces there. A reinstalled while keeping all the files and did an upgrade but this only created more problems. Now, it takes 2 min after every boot for the black screen with only a cursor to disappear. Also, since yesterday, the notification area is not working as well. I can't connect to my wifi or change the volume. I can only open the on-screen keyboard. I tried to delete a tiledatalayer folder but the right key won't function and the explorer would go unresponsive.
I have tried that solution where you reinstall all the apps using powershell and has run sfc /scannow command but none of them worked. More importantly, I can't connect to the internet to download the media file to windows 8.1 as well. I want to keep this window and I like the looks of it, though.

How can I take a screenshot in Microsoft Windows?

1. The easiest way to take a screenshot in windows is to press and hold windows key and then press prt scr key (In most keyboards this is located alongside f12 key). If the screen blinks for a while, the screenshot is succesfully taken and if not, try again. You can find these in Screenshots folder inside Pictures folder. 2. If you are interested in editing your screenshot before saving then use this method. Press prt scr key (This saves the image in clipboard) and open any image editor. Then press ctrl+v and edit the screenshot in whatever way you like (prefer .png format for saving the file). Also you can paste this image in any software supporting images like Powerpoint or Word.3. You can use the inbuilt Snipping tool. This is the most functional of all the methods. Features:Free-form Snip : As the name suggests, you are free to draw any shape on the screen and that part of screen is snipped(=screenshot is taken).Rectangular Snip : This lets you select a rectangular area on the screen and that part is snipped.Window Snip : Using this you can snip the windows you choose.Full-screen Snip : This lets you take a full screen snip.Delay : This is a new addition to Snipping Tool (starting from Windows 10). This lets you set a predefined time delay (0s to 5s) before snipping. After that interval, a screenshot is automatically taken. For more such tips visit, KNOW MOBILE TECH

How do you exit PC settings in windows 8?

Am I an idiot or did microsoft make their software harder to use? The menu thing on the right side keeps coming up by itself, and so I'll accidentally open PC settings. like 3 times a day. The only way I know how to get out of it is to click control panel. I close that window but then the task manager shows PC settings is still running. I have to right click PC settings in task manager and go to "end task". Clicking the arrow doesn't do it, and there's no X to click. How am I SUPPOSED to get out of PC settings?

Which OS is better in Windows OS series, OS 8.1 or OS 10?

Windows 8.1 was a mess. I used it for a week as I love to try anything new. Actually, It was made keeping in mind the touch screen. You have to hover to corners to get the sub menus and while opening apps, it was hard to find them. Then there was live tiles. They were such a nuisance. I was like frustrated with them. It was really a headache. Recently, Windows 10 was introduced on 29 June 2015. The Microsoft team behind it have put in a lot of effort. They kept the good things from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. The things are really in place. There is option of multiple tabs and clean menu. Microsoft is making windows 10 as a one OS for the Phone, tablet, laptop and big screens and so far it is getting good response. After a week of windows 10 release 67 million people were using it and its a whooping figure. The Cortana feature in Laptop version  makes it more productive. It still has glitches but its the first version and Microsoft is working fast to act on the customer feedbacks. The updates are rolling out and it's getting better every day.

What are the initial reactions to Windows 8?

Microsoft cannot do anything right.I made the mistake of buying Windows 8 and trying to upgrade an XP machine with it.It worked for about a week and then destroyed the hard-drive of the machine I upgraded. So then a Microsoft technician helped me to download the ISO file for W8 and I installed it on a new disk in the old XP machine that it wrecked. But that was just the beginning. Now it could not be activated. The activation people at Microsoft said they could not activate it and they sent me to cutomer service. Customer Service said they could not activate it and sent me to Volume licensing. Volume Licensing said that they could not activate it and sent me to technical service. Right now I am waiting to see of Technical Service can activate it. I have had to put in the Activation Kety about 5 times now, and it is still not working. Why cannot Microsoft do anything right. I suggest that you do not upgrade XP because my experience shows it destroys those systems, and then you are lost in limbo and cannot get your system activated after it has destroyed your hard drive for your XP machine. Fortunately I kept a clone of my hard drive and can return to XP.You do not get a chance to try out W8 because if you install it it destroys your hard-drive on the upgraded system, and then you get lost in a limbo where MS cannot even activate their own system. It is irrelevant that MS has foisted on us a UI that is horrible, because we cannot even use it because the MS security is so tight now that they cannot even activate their own systems.===Coda they finally figured out how to activate their own system, but it took quite a while. The tech himself was pretty surprised when he actually could activate it. Maybe they just don't know what they are doing yet. But I think it is pretty crazy that they have such tight security that they cannot even get the system activated. Rather they just shuffle you around between departments until someone accidentally fixes it. It took about two days. I ended up putting in the code for it about six times. I spoke to about five different people in different departments. It was a mess.===I like this analysis: Microsoft has failedHere is another analysis Disappointing Usability for Both Novice & Power Users (Jakob Nielsen's Alertbox)
