I just upgraded to Windows 10 and the audio is not working on my laptop. How can I fix that? Do I need to install audio drivers again?

Microsoft's newest operating system, Windows 10, has brought its own share of inherent bugs, installation problems and post-update issues including the annoying "No sound on Windows 10" issue.I have found a way to fix this problem, which is attributed to a flaw in the Windows 10 sound settings. It is confirmed that the lack of sound persists even after installing the correct audio drivers from the OEM or sound card manufacturer. Here is how to fix the "No Sound" issue on Windows 10:Problem with an Audio after windows 10 upgrade? No audio device was found. What shall I do to install my driver package for Windows 7?

I would recommend installing Driver Booster[1] . Driver Booster is a free software that scans and download the recommended drivers for your hardware from official sources and install it in your system. I have used the software to install in like 10–15 systems till date and it works like a charm always. Also it helps in that you don't need to download seperate drivers and install them with multiple restarts.Footnotes[1] The best free Nvida, AMD, Intel & Dell driver update software for Windows 7 & above.

No audio output device installed on a dell latitude d610 refurbished laptop & no wifi?

Did you bother to see if the laptop was Windows 7 compatible before you loaded it? Dell shows no Windows 7 drivers for the thing. You can google up forum posts about using Vista drivers ---> https://www.google.com/#hl=en&sugexp=les... but this is probably beyond you.... you should take it back to XP.

No sound on Pirated Windows XP?

Did you Pirated Windows XP? Pirated Windows XP is XP Pro VL (Volume License)... it needs no serial. If you used some Windows XP disk and used the serial on the side of your case its not pirated.... you have a legal serial.

Anyway....... you need to install sound drivers... and maybe a few others....USB.....chipset....etc. Get the computer model..... or...... the motherboard model....sound may be built in..... or pull the sound card and google it. Get all the drivers for it... they may be many.

I have a Samsung NP 35 notebook running Windows 7. Suddenly I keep getting the error message 'no audio output device is installed'. How do I fix this glitch? I now have no sound.

Thanks for your input, Shane. I've hunted down the drivers, updated them, reinstalled them and they just do not show in device manager any more. My sound settings are now literally blank across the board. Sound was basically vaporised in a flash after I uninstalled Comodo firewall. So I'm stumped..

What can I do to speed up/fix jerky videos on Windows XP?

What resolution are the movies playing at?  You know... when you go to Youtube, and you see that little Gear icon down in the bottom right of the player.... well here...There.. the quality setting.  The options available all depend on the quality of the original video that was uploaded, and whether they wanted to allow higher quality versions to be available, etc.  The higher the quality, the fatter the bandwidth pipe you need to be able to stream it.  It is therefore possible that the default quality you are watching movies at, requires more of an internet connection that you currently have.Wait... don't just defend the internet connection out of hat.  Make sure.  If your ISP is your cable company, then you share bandwidth with your neighborhood.  The more of your immediate neighbors that have cable internet and are using it, the slower everyone's internet access will be.  At peak times, in your area, this might mean the difference between being able to stream a 480p movie and not being able to stream it without the flash player having to buffer the movie.  That buffering... where the movie plays for a few seconds, stops, plays for a few seconds, stops... that is a sign that your net connection isn't fast enough for the size of the movie you are streaming.  You can test this though, by seeing if reducing the quality improves playback. Now, you say "other videos", but that doesn't explain anything.  There is a massive difference between watching buffering issues on a flash player working an internet stream.... and watching a stuttering AVI file that is saved locally on your computer.  Since you only mention Youtube by name, any other suggestions that involve other movie players and such would be pure speculation.

How can I fix a "no audio hardware" issue in GTA Vice City?

If you receive a "No Audio Hardware" error message, or you are playing the game and are not hearing some sound effects, this may be caused by your sound card not being selected as the computer's primary device to play sounds. Do the following to change it back:-> Click on the "Start" button, then on "Settings," then "Control Panel." NOTE: XP Users--click on "Start" and then "Control Panel." -> On that menu, click on "Sound & Audio Devices" or "Sound & Multimedia." -> Click on the "Audio" tab near the top of the window. -> In the "Playback" section at the top, make sure your Sound Card is selected in the "Preferred Device" section; you can change it by clicking on the down-arrow button to the right of the window.NOTE: Special note for those with the "Total Recorder" application installed. In the "Total Recorder" program, you can change your program preferences to allow your Sound Card to be read by other programs. Do the following.-> On the Total Recorder main screen, click on the "Options" button on the toolbar. Move your pointer across and down to click on "Settings." -> About half-way down in that window, there will be a button option labeled "Audio Playback and Recording Devices Selected Above." Click this button.Note that I have copy-pasted this from the Rockstar official site, and I’m sor

Why don't browsers build an indication of which tab is playing sound?

This feature has finally been implemented! Google Just Fixed One of the Most Annoying Things About Browsing the WebIt looks like Chrome has finally implemented a very useful beta feature for all users: It now shows a small speaker icon next to whichever tab is playing sound. While this may not seem like a big deal, it is for tab junkies (ahem) who become quickly frustrated when they can't figure out which tab is blaring an American Idol ad.The icon looks like this:This simple feature doesn't go as far as the Chrome extension MuteTab, which lets you select one or multiple tabs to, well, mute. A Firefox extension, Muter, also lets you mute tabs in the browser. However, those extensions don't solve the specific problem of finding a tab that is playing audio. Chrome just fixed that for you.
