How can I publish my poem in a newspaper?

There are lots of great resources out there for new writers who are looking to publish. One of my favorites and oft-visited is Poets & Writers Magazine. Their classifieds list not only journals and magazines that are accepting submissions, but also contests, retreats, and manuscript calls for Chapbooks and full-length books.I would also recommend getting involved with one of the many online writing communities. Some of my favorites are Writer’s Relief, The Write Life, and the Write Practice. Each of them publishes regular articles about writing of all sorts and are followed by amateurs to professionals. The Write Practice has an especially active following.Specifically, I would recommend that you read!!!!! publish!!!!! and submit!!!!!Read!! - because you have to know what a particular periodical publishes. You wouldn’t send free-verse with adult themes to Highlights magazine. It’ll get tossed before it’s been read. To make sure that your work aligns with the overall tone of the publication, you have to be familiar with it.Publish!!!!! - because you can’t guarantee that your work will be picked up. So take some of the pieces of your choosing and toss them up on your blog or share them with friends on Facebook or platforms. Not only does this get your work out there, but it provides an avenue for feedback. Friends and family can be some of your biggest advocates and cheerleaders, as well as some of your most compassionate critics. They are on your side, they want you to succeed, so they’re unlikely to lie to you about what works for them and what doesn’t.Submit!!!!!! - because you are good enough. If you’ve finished more than zero poems, you’re good enough. If you’ve written a whole short story, you’re good enough. If you’ve finished a full-length novel or screenplay or theatrical play, you’re good enough! Never think that your work isn’t worthy of publication. That said, don’t submit your first draft either. Put it through the ringer. Get beta readers and let them give you feedback. Your first draft is never your best, so revise, rewrite, and edit. (Plus, that’s the best part! More time to play with language, rhythm, and rhyme - if that’s your style.)Best of luck!!

How can one get an article published in Times of India?

You cannot write directly to the TOI website. There are website editors and a team. You can send all your stories or article to the News Editor, The Times of India, 126, Chamiers Road, Nandanam, Chennai-35 or mail along with your contact number and mailing address. The article should be enclosed with a covering letter stating your profile. The editors will decide and if it is worth publishing or covering it as a news, will do that...

Who should I contact to get my spirituality articles published in newspapers like The Hindu and The Times of India?

Majority of newspapers, especially established ones such as The Hindu or The Times of India, already have a set staff of writers, reporters for their feature writing and reporting. So, while they accept suggestions for articles, tips on news stories, it is often difficult to break through the barriers and publish an article itself, unless you are an expert in some given field or a celebrity of some repute. It is very rare for most newspapers to ask a non-employee to write an article.Having said that, The Hindu does have an Open Page that comes out every Tuesday (in Hyderabad region, at least). On this page the newspaper publishes articles from readers; these articles often focus on readers' experiences, or anecdotes with a particular message or subjective opinion of the readers on any topic - check out some of the submissions here: Open Page. More often than not, these articles are also quite personal. This would be the best place to have your article published. Contributions to Open Page are accepted if they are in electronic form and emailed. The last I know the length of the article was to not exceed 800 words, but you will have to verify this again. Send your articles to openpage@thehindu.co.in.Another way to get yourself published in a newspaper is to write letters to the editor. Do note, letters to the editor are often about current trending topics, are severely clipped so as to accommodate as many letters as possible, and often re-written keeping in mind the guidelines of the newspaper. They do retain the gist of what you have to say, though. If you wish to send a letter to the editor in The Hindu, please email it to letters@thehindu.co.in.The Hindu also has a Readers' Editor, an internal ombudsman who is a liaison between the editorial staff and the readers. He/She is expected to respond to readers' queries about editorial content, and is primary point of contact for any issues related to the content of the newspaper itself. But you could probably write to him/her and ask about what is the best way to get published in the newspaper. Just email your query to readerseditor@thehindu.co.in.I am not very familiar with the way other newspapers work, so most of the information above is relevant only to The Hindu. For information on how The Times of India or other newspapers accept content from their readers, my recommendation is that your write to the respective editor directly. Hope this helps. Thanks for the A2A.

How can I become a published journalist?

I have lots of ideas, articles and opinions and would like to express them in a significant way while also boosting my writing career. I was looking for insight as to what print and online mediums are accepting of column submissions or are open to publishing random articles if the quality is high enough. I am trying to avoid blogs if possible. Basically I would like to know some websites that may take a look at an article I wrote and publish it if its good or a print publication that would take a shot on me and how I could apply/submit. I mainly write about politics, current events and sports and my writing has a unique satire to it that should (will) be attractive to publishers and the likes.

Thanks
