Without Actually Being As Tough As A Real True Navy Seal Could I At Least Mimic Their Routines And

What is the mindset of Navy SEALs?

Basically, the difference between the mindset ofnormal person vs military person vs Navy SEAL is profound.Let me illustrate this with some examples.A Normal personHe starts his day with some regular exercises, becomes lazy to clean the dishes. Commutes to the office, works, returns home, feeds his lazy dog and watches late night movie and goes to sleep.A Military personStarts his day early in the morning, does a regime of exercise with a good knowledge of what can keep him fit and how to change the different exercise routines for different aspects of fitness.Lets assume he commutes to his office. He knows the schedules of the various transports and has a plan with a backup, if he ever gets late (Rarely happens). He maps his entire neighbour hood in mind, like where will be the grocery, pharmacist, nearest hospital. Emergency services. He has a good plan for his daily schedule and even when refreshing with a movie in the evening, he will be aware of his surroundings.A Navy SEALThis guy even in his sleep is mindful of his surroundings. He wakes up in the morning and goes for a casual jog, synchronizes the data he had collected during previous jogs of the events that happen. Who jogs, where is their house located. What vehicles pass regularly at this time, who is present in these vehicles etc.He then commutes to his work, he will be much better than the military person and he may even observe certain aspects left out by him. What i want to convey is, take a hypothetical case where a military person chases as navy seal, The Navy SEAL can have a plans for this and can get away from him.Basically the mindset of Navy SEAL is Discipline, Perfection & Perseverence which they get through a very harsh training. They have the perfect knowledge of how to react to certain situations and how to think out of the box. They have the physical endurance which when combined with the thought process of being in the present which makes them special. They can Persevere in any harsh condition, can have the presence of mind in a lot of stress. Take a deep breath and control anxiety and anger. They are observant, planned, forward thinking. These people are trained to SUPRISE and they lose the ability to get SUPRISED (in most situations).Because they surpass "Hell Week", they are capable of performing any action, the normal humans think impossible.

How do gun owners train for self-defense?

Ok, last Quora question before I go to breakfast.Self defense is a very general topic, one should not rely only on guns, using a gun to defend my self is only part of the training. Since you specified gun owners I will focus on the gun part.To shoot a gun and hit accurately, the hands gripping the gun have to be steady and strong, the eyes behind the sights have to be bright and diligent, and the mind must be ready for anything. To make my self more efficient with a gun I also go to the gym, I bench and do push-ups and pull ups to make my self stronger, I squat and ride a bike to run faster and longer, I push my self hard so my heart is used to high loads. These exercises not only make me better with a gun, they also make me better without a gun. A gun is only a tool, the person is the actual weapon, not the gun.At the shooting range I do a few things:-Mid range rifle shooting. I shoot at 200ā€“600 yards with a bolt action rifle. This helps me to focus and practice breathing and trigger pull techniques, which are also useful for other firearms.-Rifle rapid fire off hand. Just fire away at targets from 50ā€“100 yards with my AR, to simulate a real self defense scenario. I use iron sights for these exercises.-Rifle run nā€™ gun. Also to simulate real combat, I will prepare two magazines and run down the fields, I will shoot at the targets that resemble my enemies while I'm running, keeling down or lying down. I will also transit between rifle and pistol. I move as fast as I can and randomize the route to minimize my chance of getting hit.-Pistol concealed quick draw. From appendix carry to 4ā€²0 clock carry, practice with dummy round at home and live round at the range, it sounds dangerous but that is what I will face if I really need to pull out my gun and defend myself.-Pistol open carry quick draw. Both drawing practice also includes putting three shots on the target at 15 yards. Open carry draw is easier but open carry is not a good idea in some places.-Pistol rapid fire. Fire at targets from 7 to 50 yard, simulate the situation that the attacker is running at me.-Pistol. Accuracy shooting at 25 yards, 50 yards and 100 yards.Besides all that, I also practice loading magazines and racking the slide single handed.BOOM
