Working A Summer Abroad

Intern or Work Abroad?

Hey everybody. I just recently received my bachelor's degree in psychology. I didn't dorm and I always felt like I should have. So now, I'm considering working or being an intern abroad, just for a year, possibly Europe or Australia, to be on my own and broaden my horizons. Does anybody know of legitimate websites or programs that can help me work or intern abroad? Also, for those that have worked or interned abroad could you please share your experiences? Thank you so much for any help provided.

Should I choose to study abroad or continue to work this summer? If I study abroad it will be for a month, but I just got a job. What should I do?

I am assuming that you are a student. I would suggest that you study abroad because:-You will get a chance to study in a different country. Understanding their culture, way of life, etc will also be an added advantage apart from studying. You still have your full life left to study. So it will be better to utilize this time to study.I hope that helps.Regards,Siddharth Sankolli.

I am going to work abroad during the summer. I have mild-medium social anxiety. How do I cope with this?

1. Download flash cards for the language. Basic phrases will be enough. Check them out in the plane.2. Do not be yourself. When you use a different language the best thing you can do to minimize anxiety is to create a different persona. That way you can always be reinventing yourself. It's fine, nobody knows. Forget everything about your old character.3. First listen, then think, then try to reply. Do not apologize for not knowing the language. People will help you to find the right words as you would help some randodm spanish speaker.4. For the first days, listen as much as you can. Within a week you will a fish in the water. Remember that you are someone different now. Nobody knows and nobody cares.5. Ask yourself what's the worst thing that could happen and then think about ways to minimize the risks. 6. Do your research about the cultural values of the country you are going. That way you minimize risks of failed social interactions.7. Stop thinking about it, follow the advice here, drink a glass of wine and forget about yourself. Nobody cares, nobody knows, you are a new person now and still, nobody cares.

Volunteering and Working Abroad Help Please?

Hi!

Im interested in traveling somewhere this coming summer to work or to volunteer, but I'm wondering if you have any experience with this?

I know this is probably unrealistic, but I'm from Canada, and I'm not specific at all where I want to travel, as long as it's not to the states (been there too much), but I want to go as cost efficient as possible.

Are there any groups or places that are reputable and and send people for free (as long as you pay for your plane, they organize the rest)? Im not specific on what I do overseas either.

I would like to go using as little money as possible, but still have a good experience! Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Is it possible to work 6 weeks abroad in the summer as a student? And which jobs are available as a 17-year-old?

A2A, for in the United States it would probably be difficult.Since you would need a visa, getting an employment visa as a 17 year old is probably going to be difficult. Unless you're a 17 year old professor, then TOTAL kudos. (Employment visa requirements: Employment-Based Immigrant Visa) You could try just getting a tourist visa, but I'm not sure how long you can get your visa for, as countries have different durations of stay. Also, since you would be working, tax issues would get super complicated. At least, I think they would.Perhaps what would be more feasible is volunteer work, but that's a whole different topic that I'm probably not qualified to cover. Sorry!

What should I do this summer: Research Internship abroad or working with my Professor here?

My suggestion is to go with Option 1 with only b and C options. :-) this is because you have only 2.5 months and if you want to get into really good A grade university, you MUST get GRE above 320. For this you need to really work hard. C will get you a very good recommendation, which is very important aspect in your application package. Why I am not saying yes for option a is because, even it needs a good amount of  your time. Which may not be available if you really concentrate on both b and c.If you really have time even after doing b and c, work on any thing else which is not at all related to your field (Work with any NGO and do some social work, or if you are interested in drawing or singing, work on those skills etc.). These will help you to come out of your stress and you can portray them in your CV. Option 2 is not necessary to join in a good school in US. You can do the same by staying where you are now. All the best.

Will my PS3 work abroad?

I bought my first PS3 in the UK. It was first played in Turkey, then brought to Romania, then taken back to the UK, and it worked perfectly all along. Last summer, I went to Romania with my PS3, and as soon as I plugged it in and hit the switch, it broke. There was a noise and it stopped working altogether. I have reason to believe that it was something to do with the difference between voltage, but it had previously been used in that country. Anyway, I got a new PS3 slim in September, and I'm going to Romania again this summer, but I'm afraid the same thing will happen. Can anyone tell me why that happened, whether it will happen again, and if so, what can I do to prevent that? Thanks in advance.
