Worst Tooth Pain Of My Life

Can I go to the ER for severe tooth pain?

Yes you can, and many do…but you would be much better off going to see a dentist. I currently work in an emergency department, and we see many people for dental pain. Many of these are known drug seekers, They often do have very bad teeth, but go to the ER for pain meds and never go to a dentist to have the cause of their pain addressed. Many ER doctors look up the patients on a state narcotics registry that shows how many controlled substance prescriptions they have had filled. Frequently, we see many patients with hundreds of prescriptions for narcotic pain medications over a few months. Naturally, the doctors give these people non-narcotic pain medications, and instructions to follow up with a dentist as soon as possible. If you legitimately have severe dental pain, that you know is due to a dental issue, and can’t wait til the dentist opens, try googling “24 hour dentist emergency”, there may be one near you that can get you in any time of day or night. If none are available, then yes, an ER will see you, and you may be given pain medications as well as antibiotics as needed. The pain meds you receive may be the same as you can get over the counter, however.Another thing to consider is that ERs don’t see you in the order you arrive, but by priority of the illness or injury you are there to be seen for. If you go to the ER with dental pain, chances are you will wait several hours before being seen, as more “serious” patients are seen first. Being loud, rude and obnoxious will not speed up the process either. I think I would rather take over the counter pain meds and wait at home for the dentist to open, than spend my time in a crowded waiting room with a bunch of sick (potentially contagious) people who will probably be seen long before I would.BTW, for pain due to a cavity, chipped or broken tooth, oil of clove is available without a prescription at most pharmacies and even many grocery stores. A little bit applied directly on the painful tooth (use a Q-Tip) is all it takes.

I have the worst toothache of my life! How can I survive the night until I can go to the dentist tomorrow?!?

smash your finger with a hammer!!!! will take your mind off.

hope i helped.

Wisdom tooth pain...bad?

I had a toothache once. It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life (worse that childbirth). I actually wanted to put a gun in my mouth and make it go away. The dentist gave me prescription pain meds that didn't help much. I ended up needing a root canal which was the best thing ever. You really need to see a dentist and possibly get the tooth removed. Most people have their wisdom teeth taken out, even if they grow in okay. They can cause crowding of your other teeth, and because they are so far back, are prone to tooth decay.

Wisdom teeth coming through in worst pain ever?

so for the past one and a half weeks, the back of my gums (where wisdom teeth should be) have been hurting like crazy, i have had the worst throat ache I have ever experinced in my life, even swollewing water is hurting it, its red and raised aswell as my gums, i have a constant migraine and terrible jaw ache and pressure. and my ears are hurting to. i even choked the over day because i could not swollow.
my doctor said the reason my this is because he can see my wisdom teeth coming through the top :(
there are two deep holes there now where the teeth are going to go.
i cant even chew anything, i feel terrible!!
but my top teeth are crowded enough, will this ruin then and make them overlap??
but my bottom teeth ones arent coming through yet? but my bottom teeth are a little gappy when my molars come through when it close them.

please tell me everything i need to no about wisdom teeth/molars pleaseeeee?

Please help. Worst Toothache ever?!?

Call 1-800-Dentist. You DO need to go to the dentist OR to a hospital that has a dental department (like at UCLA). You need to find a dentist that will take you without insurance.

Exposed nerves and tooth damage such as that are most important. Bacteria from a damaged tooth can travel into your bloodstream and eventually lead into your heart, causing heart problems and, eventually, death.

If you have ever watched the vampire show, "Angel", you will remember Actor Andy Hallett, who played the demon named Lorne. While wrapping up the series, Mr. Hallett suffered from a severe toothache and didn't treat it in a timely manner. The bacteria traveled to his heart, and he suffered heart problems and illness because of that until he eventually died earlier this year.

In addition, my sister had the same problem, only her tooth was falling apart out of her mouth in pieces -- exposing the nerves. I've never seen anyone in so much pain in my LIFE!! She's much stronger than I am, and she was screaming!! I drove her straight away to the hospital, spent hours online and on the phone finding dentists who would take her (no insurance). I eventually found one that would take her and they accepted monthly payments.

If you need to go to a dentist just to do an extraction, or if you want to save the tooth and do a root canal, then do it. Find a dentist that will accept payments. Call that number mentioned above or check out the website (same name -- 1800dentist.com) or check out your local hospitals (including county) for dental departments. Ask your mom and boyfriend for the money for this. Call up social services or your local county health department for help. This is a very serious situation.

I hope you feel better soon. Take care.

Abscessed tooth...vicodin not working...?

Maybe -- First a dentist can theoretically prescribe anything. There is no limit to their prescription practices though due to their discipline it is usually limited to antibiotics and pain killers.

The next step laterally would be a demerol derivative -- ie: Mepergan. (Which is demerol and phenergan) -- A move upwards would be Oxycodone -- things like Endocet, Percocet, Percodan, and so forth. I wouldn't imagine the dentist prescribing above an Oxycodone derivative, although there are higher levels of pain control.. ie: Fentanyl.

See what he thinks about the Oxycodone or Mepergan.

The Mepergan will be more drowsy feeling, and the Oxycodone will be more stimulating. People respond differently to varying pain killers analgesically. So another family of synthetic opiate might work alot better.

Though dental pain is known for being notoriously hard to control.

Good luck,

What sort of pain is least preferred by humans? Why do you think that?

Emotional pain ranging from depression all the way to PTSD, there is a lot of evidence showing that emotional trauma and pain triggers the same parts of the brain as physical pain. It has sometimes been shown to trigger the pain regions even more. Psychological distress is one of the worst things a person can experience. Second in line is spinal headache. This is one of the worst head pains a human can experience. Basically your meninges - one of the most sensitive parts of your body - are affected; it’s a common side effect of spinal anesthesia. The worst part is that movement can make it worse. Common symptoms are hearing loss, vertigo, nausea, dizziness, and extreme pain. It has been described as “searing and spreading like hot metal”. Third would be Penile Fracture. Every guy knows what this is, and it hurts just as much as you think it does. Fourth in line is Cluster Headaches. Unlike migraines or tension headaches, cluster headaches occur almost directly behind the eyeball. They get their name because they occur in groups over a period of several weeks, usually at night. They are also “suicide headaches” because the pain is almost unbearable. Some people say it feels like a stick is being jammed through your eyeball and into your brain.
