Would Writing A Book About The History Of My High Schools Basketball Team Cool For A Senior Project

Tips on organization and study habits for high school/college?

Hi, I'm going into my junior/senior year at my high school and i need some tips on organization. I need help because during the day i'll be taking be nursing assistant, earth and space, algebra 2, english 11 and 12 standard, and US history at my high school. But at night time on Tuesdays and Thursdays i'll be taking spanish 2 and college algebra at university of Maryland university college (UMUC). I have to take those extra courses in order to graduate early. plus i need to keep an A/B average and a GPA of 3.5 and up. I am going to have one stressful year. Also at the end of the year i'll be taking finals, SATS, ACTS, CNA boards, and GNA boards. I'm pretty bad at studying for big tests. Like i either get distracted or don't know the exact criteria to study on because some teachers don't even bother giving you a study guide. I also have ADHD which makes it tough to stay focused but i'm on medication for that. Do you guys know any good ideas on ways to study and organization tips so i don't mess this year up. Thank you!

As a senior in high school, what are some good books to prepare for an engineering degree?

Besides your core math and physics texts, I would recommend books that talk about real engineering. You’ll be in academics soon enough, but real work is a few more years out. If you’re going to be an electrical or computer engineer, these are some books I would recommend. One of the classics is The Soul of A New Machine by Tracy Kidder.A newer one, but very relevant, is The Pentium Chronicles: The People, Passion, and Politics Behind Intel's Landmark Chips by Robert P. Colwell. Bob Colwell is friends with my PhD advisor, so I had the opportunity to hear him speak a couple times and some of his (very interesting) stories are in the book.[Update] I’ve just discovered that Bob Colwell is on Quora, so you should follow him.

What was your favorite year of high school?

Senior year.Although it was stressful (I took all AP classes along with dual credit, had to do a project to graduate, ect), it was fun. All my best friends were in my classes, I loved my teachers, I attended every event, went to parties, ect.But the real reason I loved senior year? I learned more about myself in the span of 9 months, than the past 18 years. I learned that I can write a book, I can give a 11 minute presentation without screwing up, I can actually talk to boys, I’m not afraid to take charge, I can’t hold grudges, and I became best friends with someone that I perceived as my rival. In other words, I grew up.

What are good goals for a high school student to have?

Here are a few things I think are very useful and important things for you to learn during your high school year, before you go to college.Learn how to beat the test. There are tricks you can learn to do better on the tests. Some basic ones, are process of elimination and skipping and coming back to hard questions. While, most people know process of elimination, they only practice it on hard questions. You should get into habit of practicing it on EVERY SINGLE QUESTION, it will help you get more questions right. Learn the strategies, master them and use them on test day. Also, realize that different subjects have different types of tests; each requires different preparation and not all the tricks may apply to every subject.Learn how to take notes. Both in class and out of class. You need to be able to distinguish what is good stuff that you need to know when the teacher is talking and when you're reading the book. If you can do this, studying will be so much easier.Develop the ability to understand what you don't understand and the ability to put it into question form. This is so useful. If you can crack down on what you're not getting and then form questions to fix that. Then you can completely understand all the material by asking the professor a question.Cultivate your ability to manage your time. You can go to the hardest college, and still have time for extracurriculars and a full nights sleep. It's all about managing your time effectively and self-control. Make a habit of studying everyday and not cramming. How can you go about doing this? My advice is to focus on one thing at a time and think about how you can get better at that thing. You could also probably find some more specific information about improving each of these, on Quora, the Internet, your school counselor. Also, something that could help is breaking down each of these further and focusing on one aspect at a time.
