Would You Jump Higher In Cold Weather Or Warm

Would you jump higher in cold weather or warm?

Actually you would be able to jump a tiny bit higher in warm air because it is less dense than colder air. And warm moist air would be even less dense.

Can I prevent cold weather from draining car battery?

The weather doesn't drain your battery, hot or cold. If it's slow to start it may need spark plugs, perhaps an oil change. Have a talk with your mechanic. It is true that batteries in very cold weather (and I'm talking below zero) lost some capacity, but they aren't drained, they just aren't as effective at 20 below as they are at 70.

Why does being warm make us drowsy, whereas being cold makes us alert?

Well, this may be related to the blood stream. A low temperature make our blood pressure higher cause the veins start being tighter so this increase the blood rate that reaches the muscles. When the temperature is warmer, our veins become more "relaxed", so low pressure low blood speed so muscles are more relaxed. But you have to think that this happens in a short range of temperature. Because, if the temperature is too cold, we will start shivering and being pale cause the blood will be directed to the most important body center: brain and hearth. So less blood will reach muscles and we, after some times, will feel weak and numb.

Do cats prefer cold water or room temperature?

You could try either or but avoid ice cubes or making the water too cold. If it's that hot in the area, offering your cat ice cold water can actually kill him (because you'll be cooling his body down too fast).

Room temp water is fine, that won't change the temperature in his body anyway (and it actually is much colder to them then it would be to us--because they're body temps are higher than ours).

If my car battery dies and I get a jump, how soon do I need to replace the battery?

Batteries have a service life expectancy, but it can be shortened by some conditions. One is hot weather. It isn't winter that kills your battery -- it's the heat of summer. We tend to notice battery failure in the winter, when demand on the battery is higher.Another factor that shortens battery life can be allowing a discharged battery to sit for a long time. The plates of the battery form an accumulation in a chemical reaction that cannot be reversed. But all batteries break down with time. If your battery is several years old it may need to be replaced. It is also possible that there is an electrical problem with your car, but faults of this nature can be tracked down. Here's a test you can do if you are fairly mechanically competent but take note: some car audio systems will go into a security lock down mode if the electrical supply is cut to zero volts. If your car audio has this feature then you will need to enter a code to reactivate the stereo.Wear safety glasses and gloves. Make sure the car is secure and that the ignition switch is turned off. Batteries pose a hazard due to the sulphuric acid they contain and the possibility of arc flash, so be careful.Disconnect the negative battery terminal set the negative wire of to the side, away from the positive terminal. Connect one lead of an ammeter to the negative post of the battery and the other ammeter lead to the clamp on the end of the negative battery cable.Take note of how many amps show on the ammeter. It should be a very small amount. If you note more than a couple of amps, then there may be a ground fault somewhere in the electrical system. You can isolate the exact location of the fault by systematically pulling fuses from the fuse block. When you see the current drop significantly, you will have located the circuit where the fault is occurring. Now you know where to look for the problem.Sometimes the problem lies in the ignition switch itself. Unfortunately I am not a mechanic, so I don't know the test for such a fault. If you look online, you may be able to find the test method there. If the battery was dead simply because you left the lights on, then it could be that there's no problem at all. If the battery held a charge after being boosted, you may be okay for now. However, if the battery is several years old it may be time to get a new one. Winter is coming and you don't want to find yourself stuckĀ  in the cold.Good luck.

Is it healthy to take cold showers in winters?

Bathing with cold water all year round is medically considered best for mind and body. You feel more energetic immediately, unlike with warm water that makes the body dull/lazy for a while. But before deciding using cold water for shower, ensure that you are able to bear the cold water, i.e. how cold is it. With practice, gradually one can get used to having shower with colder water. Also, it shouldn't be too cold or like icy cold as that can make you fall sick instead. You can add some warm water to it to make it little less cold or use just about lukewarm water initially, and then gradually start using slightly cold water, etc. like that to make you used to it. Anyways, during every shower, the first few seconds only the body feels the water cold then body immediately gets accustomed to it.I also read in an old book, which you probably may not find in any newer books that when having bath/shower with cold water always pour it first over the head, and if you are having warm water then first pour over the feet then move upwards, lastly then over the head, at the beginning of the bath/shower itself.

How long can a dead car battery sit?

My car battery died about four weeks ago and I have yet to jump start it. I am in subzero temps (literally negatives daily) and the manual says it's not safe to jump start in that type of weather. How long can I let it sit before I have completely ruined the battery and/or the car? It should hit higher temps next week and I, hopefully, can jump it then. And I would like to add that while I can jump a car, I have no clue about removing it and taking it inside to "warm up" as other websites have suggested!

Bad starter or battery?

My car has been having trouble starting lately in the cold weather. Its a ponitac grand pix 2004.

When i go to start it, it kinda drags and sometimes it doesnt start. When it doesnt start, it immediately starts clicking until i remove the key. When it does this it will not restart until i get a jump. But the thing that leads me to believe it isnt the battery is that the car radio and lights will stay on even if the car doesnt start.

ALso this might be worth mentioning, but the lil car monitor inside my car sometimes read "charging system failure". but it immediately goes away.

One thing i can rule out right away is the battery ternminals because i just had them changed
