Whats he deal with nigerian men? Why so many bad rumors?

I meet a guy this summer that's half nigerian and Jamaican. We meet online and chatted off and on about 2 months before we meet. Well since then we have been seeing each other consistently for about 3 months and I have been hearing alot of bad things since we have been getting closer. Since we really started seeing each other he would tell me all things he wants to do with and for me and how he needs to get his life together befcom mittsommitts to me. He has been pretty consistant with coming around and how he treats me. He asked me for something once because he was in a bad sitution and I said no and that was back about a month ago and nothing changed with us. If anything hes always talking about what he can do to make more money to take care of me. Last night he told me he wanted to finally be together and that hes falling for me. All this came about after I had my ex over one night and he got a little jealous and wouldnt talk to me for days. I really care about him and he seems to care about me too but Im scared to let my guard down because I heard about nigerian men scamming women and taking their money. Has anyone heard of any good experiences? Why are they labeled as bad?

Why do Nigerian men target American women to cheat and to harm? Why don't they stay with their own women?

I think many men (and also women of all races!) of many poor and dictatorship dominated countries in the world (not only Nigeria) try to have benefits from a relationship with white partners because this is a way to survive. Sometimes also their spouses push them to do this "job" (pretend love) and get money to feed the family.
Morals often decreases with hunger, oppression and difficult living conditions.
They often try to justify stealing with social justice, because they are so poor while whites are so rich and would not die from hunger even when they take their money. But in my experience only criminal minds think in this way, religious people from Nigeria would rather starve than steal.
Dont forget there are millions of Nigerians and other people who try to survive in a honest way.
And I still believe there is true love, also between Nigerian (whatever) and whites.
But everybody must be careful (in every love story and even more with people from other countries and cultures) and even when in love you should never stop to use your brain.
This doesnt happen only to American women, I am German and have seen in Germany the same painful stories. But I know also happy mixed couples.
I also had happy love stories with really nice and sweet and caring men from Africa, but I never gave money (or too much confidence) to them. This was the best method to find out if a guy was honestly interested in me or only searching for a "sugar mummy".
In some places of the world (for example Egypt) many men cannot afford to marry women of their own country because they dont find work and have no possibilty to maintain a family. And therefore they address to foreign white women, because they dont need much money to date them, sometimes its the only chance to meet women, especially in black muslim countries. And a white woman with blonde hair is the ultimate dream of many men there, it's like driving a Mercedes Benz, it makes you seem rich and successful in the eyes of the others.
