Wrist Hurts When I Move It

My wrist hurts even when I don't move it?

It sounds like tendinitis, which I've had several times because of constant typing. And yes, it hurts when you don't move and when you do move and when you touch those tendons in your wrist. Ice is great, and regular doses of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories such as Advil or Aleve will also help relieve the pain and especially the inflammation. You should also get yourself a wrist splint. They sell them at most pharmacies. Wear it as much as you can, including to school. This immobilizes the tendons and allows them to heal. Rest, ice, anti-inflammatories and immobilization is the treatment of choice for this, and they've gotten me through a few painful episodes. Elevation of your wrist to a level above your heart can also help.

It's possible it could be early carpal tunnel syndrome, though your symptoms don't match up. The middle finger is rarely involved and, if it is, the index and thumb finger would be in pain as well, with numbness and tingling.

If you treat the tendinitis as above (and the treatment would be the same for carpal tunnel), this should resolve within a few days. If, however, it doesn't get better in ten days, because this has been an issue for a month, you should probably see your doctor, who may do an injection of stronger anti-inflammatories and pain medicine into the joint.

My wrist hurts when I move it back and forth. What could it be and how can I treat it?

Most likely a simple sprain or over exerted muscle from a previous day of doing something out of the ordinary, Just rest it and and keep icing.

Wrist hurts when moving side to side?

It may have something to do with tennis. I have played tennis 5 days a week for over a month now, and it has become normal and has never been painful. This Saturday, however, I played with two people MUCH better than me, and they hit the ball too hard to even rally with at times. I think this may have put shock on my wrist and it hurt a bit the next day. It wasn't extremely noticeable, so I competed in the match two days later. After 2 1/2 hours of continuous playing, the pain just got worse and worse. We wrapped it and eventually won the match :D

The pain, however, is still there. It is my right hand (racket hand) and does not hurt if I bend it up or down to any extent. If I relax the muscles in my wrist while moving it, there is only little discomfort when my hand is facing down-right and if I strain it too much pulling it upper-left. The pain always radiates from the wrist bone on pinky side. If I DO use my muscles to rotate my wrist, the pain is worse than if I do not, and is mainly in the entire extended right side, just a bit of discomfort going left, but no pain on either up or down.

Also, this may be not quite related, but I also get pain when I push on certain areas. For one, the place where my bones come together in the middle-back of the hand--the starting bones leading to my index and middle finger, the pain seems to come more from the index finger. Also, focusing on just the visible spherical wrist bone, if I hold my arm horizontally (as if looking at a watch), pain comes when I press anywhere from 4-8 o'clock. The outer side of that bone, however, feels fine. Picking up weight with that hand also hurts, and I can no longer lift my 30 pound backpack with just that one hand.

Online, most things I have found have been for when it also hurts when typing. My wrist does not hurt when typing or writing. Hitting anything with a tennis racket, though, hurts. I know that it is not carpal tunnel, because I do not have most of CT's symptoms. Please get back to me with what you think it could be and/or how long I should sit out of tennis. Thanks much!

What should I do if my wrists hurt when I type?

If it's just your wrists, it's probably because you are or have been typing with your wrists in a position that isn't neutral. You want your wrists to be neutral along both axes - side to side and up/down. To get the side to side axis neutral, you should get a keyboard that lets your wrists stay completely straight (as if your hands were hanging relaxed at your side, and then you moved them to the keyboard without moving your wrists at all - just your arms). I use the Kinesis Freestyle keyboard (http://www.kinesis-ergo.com/free... ) to get my hands far enough apart that there isn't any strain on my wrists. Typing on a laptop keyboard can be especially bad for your wrists.Second, for the up/down axis, you should get a keyboard tray so that your whole forearms and wrists can be on a line parallel to the ground, so that there's no bend at your wrists. Without keyboard trays, most people end up with their keyboard too high, which makes them bend their wrists. Depending on your dimensions, a keyboard tray might not be able to come down low enough for this position without banging into your knees. If this happens, the Humanscale 2G keyboard tray (http://dev.humanscale.com/produc... ) is one to try that has an especially small mechanism to minimize the space between the bottom of the keyboard tray and the keyboard. If you have general problems and not just your wrists, see What should I do to minimize my RSI or pain from typing or computer use?.

My Right Wrist Hurts When I Move or Put Pressure On It?

I have same problem at this time! I have been dealing with this for quite some time. I was seen by Orthopedist and she stated that it was tendonitis. They also done xrays to be sure nothing was fractured. She told me that it would just take time to heal and get back to normal. I was given steroid injection and a splint to wear. I am 8 months in and the pain is some better but not completely. Mainly you need to keep your wrist in neutral position with no movement if able to! Good luck and hope you feel better.

Why does my wrist hurt when I cry?

Hi, I don't know sorry but you re not the only one :Is it normal that my palm hurts when my feeling get hurt?Same with me too. People say it's because the heart and left arm are related. Pb : to some people it happens in the other hand, or the wrists or the feet.

Why does my wrist hurt when I'm on my period?

There could be a connection between the two because of the surge in hormones at that time.

I've also met some women who have had problems with a condition called endometriosis and have it affected the skin and other areas of the body.

I'm just using this as an example.

I would recommend checking with your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.
