This chip is the best design so far, the only problem i see is with the heatsink they used which could have caused your red dot issue. The heatsink is a two piece design (copper core, aluminum shell) which can cause your xbox to overheat.

I've had it for about 2 years so I was expecting some trouble but this is annoying. I'll be playing a game for like a half hour and it will just shut off. I would look at the power box thing and it would have this red dot on it even though it was green not five minutes before. I would like to know how to fix it because it's quite agitating. So I have two questions what would be some long or short term fixes for this problem and do I need to replace the whole xbox or just the power supply? Second one in case none of the fixes work. Hello, I've had this problem for a while now, it's just that recently I've wanted to play my xbox and this problem has been bugging me.
So, a few months ago (maybe around 5-6 months ago), I got a new TV, this TV only had a HDMi Port so my A/V cable for my Xbox would not work, at first, I could play my xbox fine on the TV, then I had this problem where the Xbox had a red light in the middle of the power button, at first when you turn it on, the power button would be Green initially, you can hear the fan in the xbox spinning, then, it would go Red, the fan would stop as I could not hear it anymore.
Also, when the Xbox is turned off, the Power Brick would display a Orange/Amber color, when I turned the Xbox on, the power brick would go Yellow/Green, when the Light on the xbox goes Red, the power brick's color will go back to orange/mber,
One thing to note, this happens when I plug a HDMi cable or a A/V cable into the xbox connecting to the TV or my PC Screen, when only the power brick is connected and the xbox is turned on, the light on the xbox will stay green constantly, but when I plug in a VIdeo source the light goes red\\.
I've tried 2 TV's already with both HDMi, A/V cable and even to my PC screen with a Xbox to VGA cable.
I've done some reading online where people just removed the hard drive and put it back in, mine's the 4GB version and I have no External Harddrive.
Anyone has a solution? I have no local servicing Xbox's in my country and my Warranty pro'ly ended
