1.  You can win without a throwing threat at QB.  The Ravens won the Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer, the Jets have gone to the last 2 AFC Championships with 1st and 2nd year Mark Sanchez, and the Broncos are 3-1 with Tim Tebow this year.  The Broncos do not have an elite defense like those other teams did though, so the Lord seems squarely focused on his boy Tim, much to the foresaken sorrows of Colt and Sam.2.  A running game helps (see DeMarco Murray and the suddenly Super-caliber Cowboys, Matt Forte taking the pressure off of Jay Cutler, Chris Johnson showing up in Tennessee, among others).  You build the lead with a varied attack, you hold the lead with a running game.3.  Coach Mike Smith knocked Atlanta out of the playoffs with his decision to go for it.  His defense now knows he has no confidence in their ability to compete, and his entire team has to be questioning his ability to give them the best chance to win.  Bill Belichick was able to survive a similar decision, but Smith has not achieved what Belichick has achieved in this league.4.  All-Star rosters that are thrown together all at once, rather than being carefully and methodically integrated, rarely work out in sports.  Too many examples to list.  See ya next year, Philly.5.  Excluding the two Baltimore-Pittsburgh games, the Ravens are basically a .500 team and the Steelers are virtually perfect.  Steelers have to be the AFC favorite.6.  Something seems wrong with Philip Rivers.  Not mechanically, not injury-related, but psychologically.  We may eventually find out what it is, we may not.  If so, whatever it is, I hope it resolves itself.  Maybe he didn't go through his normal off-season and preseason prep with the season's uncertainty, and it's as simple as that.  I used to love watching him play, and now it's no fun.7.  Will somebody please give Green Bay a game, so the rest of the league can study how to deal with them in the post-season?  My 10-year old asked me this morning, "has anyone EVER won two Super Bowls in a row?" (we were discussing tonight's game and how great the Pack is this year).  I said yes, yes they have; in fact, Green Bay won the first two Super Bowls that were played.  His reply:  "I normally don't like good teams unless they're ours, but I really like Green Bay!".  I grudgingly share his sentiment.

On the L word did Bette and Tina get a happy ending?

Are NFL Football Games Fixed?

I see in only 30 min's that most people believe this is true. I see one guy think a person is an idiot if you believe this. What about the on going investment scam of Wall Street and the banks that got billions and now are charging 5 bucks to cash a check that is from their own bank. These things are much bigger then the NFL. Yes I believe the players don't know. But they are like a sleeper cell they are given an order to do something from there boss. Then it comes form their boss. I don't think I can believe anything today. I was told by an attorney once weight the rises to the benefits and do it. Or look at the car companies they have a formula that they use if a car is not made right. These formula weights out the deaths to the chance of a class action law suit and the money paid. Yes if the formula says only a few people will die then no recall.

Walking through it game-by-game....Wild Card RoundHouston (3) defeats Cincinnati (6) -- I'm up in the air on this one because the Texans are royally screwed if they fall behind and have to rely on some combination of Yates/Delhomme/Garcia to bail them out. But I think solid rushing attack plus decent defense takes care of a rookie QB on the road.New Orleans (3) defeats Detroit (6) -- Detroit is headed the right direction, but drawing New Orleans as a wild card is a little too much a little too soon. If the Niners play in a different division, the Saints are a #2 seed.Atlanta (5) defeats New York (4) -- both teams have been up-and-down, but I think Atlanta is getting hot at the right time, so I'll give them the edge.Pittsburgh (5) defeats Denver (4) -- if there's one team I trust to squash Tebow like a bug, it's Pittsburgh with their mobile linebackers and Polamalu. And I'm not sure Mendy being out is a deal-breaker YET. As a personal aside, if we lose to Tebow, I may go into the Quora Isolation Tank for a week or two. :PDivisional RoundNew England (1) defeats Pittsburgh (5) -- I think this is where being banged up comes back to haunt the Steelers. And I fear what the two TE sets will do to us. The image of Gronkowski relentlessly abusing William Gay is just too fresh in my mind.Baltimore (2) defeats Houston (3) -- I think the Houston QB situation can get past Cinci. I don't think they get past that Ravens' D.Green Bay (1) defeats Atlanta (5) -- Atlanta looks good at times, but I'm not sure Matty Ice can get in a shootout with Aaron Rodgers.New Orleans (3) defeats San Francisco (2) -- it's been a nice story, but they got fat off the NFC West, and they're gonna get exposed against Brees = CHECK PLEASE!Conference ChampionshipsBaltimore (2) defeats New England (1) -- I think defense and Ray Rice swing a very close contest the Ravens' way. And MAN I hate typing that.New Orleans (3) defeats Green Bay (1) -- also a very close call. Home field will be a nice advantage for the Pack, but I think the Saints are just a little more well-rounded. Green Bay's defense CAN be picked apart and their running game is nothing special. If this is an especially bad-weather game, I could see that swinging it back to the Pack.Super BowlNew Orleans defeats Baltimore. Brees FTW! Or perhaps Flacco FTL!
